Phobos, the lord of battlefield panic, rules the next nine days. How we plan to act when in the fight of our lives, and how we actually act, are not always in alignment. How can we make our heavenly ideals match our down-to-earth practical considerations?

Thanks to an enthusiastic friend who paid me through Ko-Fi instead of Patreon, the horoscopes for Aquarius II (Phobos) are made public to a wider audience this time around. You can find both horoscopes and the full column at this address! Thank you Wren!

Phobos was the ancient Greek god of panic on the battlefield. Shown as a strong man with a lion's head, he was less to be worshipped than propitiated ... through practice and training. You could not escape his clutches once the conflict started and the battle was joined — your only hope lay in what you had learned to do in the gymnasium and on the stadium grounds or on the fields of Mars just outside a city's walls.  May we be free of the influence of Phobos in the next ten days and the next year, and remain safe by virtue of our training and practice.

This afternoon at 5:40 pm EST, the Sun enters Aquarius II, the decan called *Heaven and Earth*, a place where idealism has to ground itself in practical decision-making, and where ordinary thinking has to reach for something higher. Ancient Greeks gave these ten days to Phobos, the ovewhelming terror of the battlefield that brings panic and rout —what did they know that we don't? Why should idealism and practicality clash with such ferocity that running away is a viable option?

Phobos, the god of fear, and one of the attendants in the chariot of Mars, was the god of the next ten days. Maybe today we could call him the ruler of the Three Fs of the autonomic nervous system: Fight, Flight or Mate. There's a sense in which we need to go on autopilot for a little while... or maybe come off of it.

My astrology column for January 30 to about February 9, 2020, is available here: https://andrewbwatt.com/2020/01/30/astrology-sun-in-aquarius-ii/

There was an addendum to this post:

So, I try to launch this column about 12 hours before the start of the Decan-season. Obviously that didn’t happen. I launched the podcast, “The Astrologer’s Palace”, on Wednesday… and somehow about 80% of this blog post got deleted in the process of setting up the podcast-systems on the blog. Which meant re-writing it today. It’s kind of the thing that I’m trying to explore around developing this column around some animistic ideas.

I have to assume that if the post got eaten while I wasn’t watching, then at least the hungry, hungry hippos in the river of time got well-fed. Maybe the spirits felt that the earlier version of this column wasn’t properly written, and that I needed to adjust. Unseen editors sometimes do these things, in order to make sure that the column you were supposed to read, was the one that actually got written.

And maybe time is like that.
