Fundamentally uninvolved and uninterested in the lives of mortals and largely ignoring their worship, she reminds us that most of our schemes and politics are of little interest to gods. Accordingly, we must cultivate our own inner life in pursuit of our larger aims — working on our hearts, mnds and souls with the same attention as we pursue bank account increases and larger houses. We cannot neglect that work and expect profitable results.
