Gemini III begins early tomorrow morning 10 June 2024 on the US east coast, with the Sun just peeking over the horizon at 5:33 am EDT. This season, called The Executioner’s Sword, is associated with Praxidike (possibly Persephone Praxidike, the arbiter of justice requiring capital punishment), and is administered by the Sun under Mercury.

Praxidike, a terrifying goddess of punishment and redress of grievance, ruled the next ten days of the calendar of Greco-Egyptian Alexandria — her name literally meaning "the practicer of justice", she presided at trials of capital punishment and extracted vengeance in both the mortal and divine realms. At Thebes in Boeotia and elsewhere, her hand was stayed in mystery cult pantomimes only by Castor and Pollux the Dioscuri, who came with swift wings to assist mortals in accidental peril but who spurned the intentional and malicious criminal. Have you committed accidental wrongs for which you may atone? Does anything lurk in you that is truly unforgivable?

The Sun enters Gemini III— “the Executioner’s Sword" at 5:52 pm EDT on June 10 2022. The Moon approaches her full position in Sagittarius, while the Sun prepares for his annual conjunction with the shoulders of Orion, just before the Summer Solstice. The ancient Greeks gave this ten-day season to Praxidike, the goddess who attends to the right relations between child and parent, spouses, guest and host, and citizen and state —and punishes those who violate those ancient, unwritten statutes.
